You want your faith welcomed and woven into your care.
Christian Counseling
Faith-based counseling that brings biblical truth and evidence-based care into one place, for anyone seeking hope, healing, and freedom.
My aim is simple: to proclaim liberty to the captive.
What Is Christian Counseling?
Christian counseling is faith-based counseling that joins biblical principles with evidence-based clinical care. I offer it in Ashland, VA and online across Virginia, Maryland, North Carolina, Florida, Washington DC, and South Carolina. You do not need to be of the Christian faith to be here. I will never force my beliefs on you.
My name is Dr. Chris Coleman. I hold a PhD in Christian counseling, I am an ordained minister, and I am a licensed professional counselor and substance abuse treatment provider with more than 20 years in this field. I will ask permission before I pray with you. I will always pray for you. I meet you as a person, not a diagnosis.

- Your future feels aimless, and you want purpose and freedom back

How I Approach Your Care
Faith and clinical skill, side by side. I use evidence-based approaches from my training and ground them in a biblical worldview. The science and the Scripture are not at odds here.
Permission comes first. I ask before I pray with you or open the Bible in session. You set the pace.
The whole person. I look at mind, body, relationships, and spirit. It all connects.
Honest and direct, with compassion. If it causes a problem, then it is a problem. I will tell you the truth and walk it with you.
Rooted in Scripture. My work starts from biblical truth. I draw on cognitive behavioral therapy, cognitive processing therapy, motivational interviewing, solution-focused therapy, and trauma-informed care, joined with biblical counseling.
